Douala has completed a major step in the elaboration of its Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP)

The Urban Community of Douala organised a one-week workshop from 9 to 13 of July in order to validate the « Diagnostic » phase of their Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP). This workshop brought together the municipality’s team in charge for the SUMP, representatives from ministries, the experts commissioned in the support-framework of MobiliseYourCity (funded by EU-Intra-ACP, implemented via AFD), an expert from Bordeaux Métropole in the context of the city-to-city cooperation, representatives of AFD and the MobiliseYourCity Secretariat, as well as other stakeholders. Consultants worked hand-in-hand with the Municipality to present, share and discuss their conclusions regarding the current status quo on urban mobility in Douala in order to establish a robust and common understanding upon which the next project stage – development scenario building – shall be set up. The project targets at finalizing Douala’s SUMP in 2019 as base for susbsequent implementation of measures.
