Walking and cycling are critical modes of transport, providing a number of benefits to society. To effectively improve conditions for these modes requires money to fund the infrastructure, services, and maintenance required for their support.
In this session, we explore the need for funding and finance, as well as funding and finance options available to cities at various levels of government, from local to national to international. We will use several case studies to illustrate how these funding and finance sources have been used in practice to more effectively implement active transport as part of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans.
