Mapping Paratransit Services

Paratransit is an essential part of mobility in many cities in Africa and the global south. While it offers opportunities for employment and a flexible and adaptable transport system, it is also related to challenges. Understanding data mapping routes and depicting daily operations is key for providing sufficient data to decision-makers that will contribute to reforming the regulatory regime.

This session is divided into two modules: “Field Research Planning” and “Digital Solutions for Mapping Paratransit Services”. “Planning” focuses on the process of digital mapping as a project and how it can be designed and planned. “Digital Solutions” submodule focuses on freely available software tools that enable data collection and management, the different data formats and standards used, and different use cases of the output datasets from the mapping process. Key takeaways of the sessions include:
