MobiliseYourCity joins the CCFLA to help close the investment gap for urban transport
In July MobiliseYourCity joined the Cities Climate Finance Leadership Alliance, a coalition of over 70 leaders committed to deploying finance for city-level climate action at scale by 2030.
Launched in 2014 by the previous UN Secretary-General, the Alliance is the only multi-level and multi-stakeholder coalition aimed at closing the investment gap for urban and subnational climate projects and infrastructure worldwide.
MobiliseYourCity has joined two working groups with the objective of advocating for additional resources for urban transport and disseminating tools and methodologies to a broader audience outside the transport community:
- the Enabling Framework Action Group which ‘seeks to strengthen national legal, regulatory, and policy frameworks that can boost climate finance for cities’ and is led by the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy and the Global Infrastructure Facility
- the Project Preparation Action Group which ‘supports the Alliance’s members in identifying, coordinating and accelerating existing Preparation Facilities (PPFs) for low-carbon and climate-resilient urban infrastructure projects’ and is led by C40 Cities Finance Facility and the Covenant of Mayors Office for Sub-Saharan Africa
By joining the Alliance, MobiliseYourCity intends to channel up-to-date information and resources for climate finance to cities, and above all, hopes to influence global players to make urban transport a priority.
