MobiliseYourCity launches the latest SUMP training series to support 16 cities at the beginning of their SUMP process

 

As 16 of our member cities embark in the process of developing a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), the MobiliseYourCity Partnership is launching a series of online trainings: the MobiliseYourCity Mastering Mobility Series. This series includes online and offline trainings as well as methodologies designed to equip people working on mobility across the MobiliseYourCity Communities of Practice with tested and scalable solutions developed by experts, to help them become better mobility practitioners.

Along with the technical support offered by the MobiliseYourCity Partnership to 44 cities across the world to encourage sustainable mobility planning, the Partnership also supports the capacity development of its local partners and has already delivered 39 workshops and trainings (on- and offline) to members of the MobiliseYourCity Communities of Practice.

Webinars and online conferences have multiplied within the last months to adapt to the current COVID-19 crisis and MobiliseYourCity is working to develop dynamic and engaging methods of online training to keep developing local capacities from a distance. The Mastering Mobility Series builds on the expertise from our partners as well as the experience of members of our Communities of Practice using case studies, finished SUMPs from the regions and tested tools to offer tailored solutions to our member cities and countries. The trainings will allow plenty of space for practitioners from over 10 different countries to exchange on the current status of their planning process and discuss the challenges they face and the keys for success.

Guided by expert moderators, the trainings address the most pressing questions on how and why to do sustainable mobility planning. Throughout exchanges with cities and national governments from 31 different countries, the MobiliseYourCity partnership identified several priority areas that are of high added value for the audience of the Mastering Mobility Series. Our training topics range from the integration and upscaling of existing plans, affordable and innovative tools for sound data collection on transport modes, the implementation readiness of the planning material and strategies to professionalise paratransit.
