The purpose of the guide is to highlight, without claiming to be exhaustive, significant experiences in mobilizing the main funding possibilities in the sector. The first version of this guide designed by the French Development Agency (AFD) and the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy (MEDDE) was published in November 2009. Five years after AFD and MEDDE wished to publish a new enriched version of this guide. The cases presented have been updated, new examples have been added and the analysis framework has been refined.

The purpose of the guide is to highlight, without claiming to be exhaustive, significant experiences in mobilizing the main funding possibilities in the sector. It is thus a question of providing a reference base to any decision maker, of the South as of the North, who would be brought to take part in the reflection on the sectoral organization and the structure of financing of urban transport, the most adapted to the needs and the specifics of his city.

Its drafting was entrusted to the CODATU association, which is based on thematic analyzes and case studies, with the support of the Center for Studies and Expertise on Risks, the Environment, Mobility and Planning ( CEREMA).
