The MobiliseYourCity Asia program focuses on addressing specific challenges of the countries and cities which are enrolled in the program, within the strategic framework of the MYC partnership.
The Agence Française de Développement (AFD) allocated a 5 million EUR grant in 2019 for the program’s first phase. Under this first phase the following activites will be executed among others: implementation of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMP), concept studies for priority projects as well as communication and awareness rising events and activities.
The MYC Asia program is jointly implemented by the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), in close coordination with the MYC Secretariat and MYC active partners in Asia.
A first exchange, building on AFD and ADB local representations in the region, is ongoing with several cities which expressed their interest to benefit from the program. So far, three cities -which joined the MYC partnership in 2019- are already benefitting from a technical and financial support under the program: Kurunegala (Sri Lanka), Tbilisi (Georgia) and Peshawar (Pakistan). The support is at the moment focused on the preparation of SUMPs and the identification of priority projects. The first phase of MYC Asia program will provide support to a total number of 6 to 8 cities in the region, over a period of maximum 3 years. Then, a second phase of the program is planned.
