ITDP created a database that maps all rapid transit corridors worldwide
The Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) has collected data from government sources and publicly available news sources and created a first-ever global Rapid Transit Database, that shows all existing rapid transit corridors worldwide.
Rapid transit allows people to travel quickly between different neighborhoods, and is hence especially important in large cities. Even though it is part of a larger public transportation system, rapid transit is separated from other traffic. It may use buses or railways, but those vehicles must operate on dedicated, separated infrastructure.
The Rapid Transit database is a publically available tool, that is updated annually. To use the Database, click here or access the full dataset here.
