Presenting digital solutions for informal transport modernisation

During this year’s MobiliseYourCity Global Forum, we discussed with experts how digital technologies can be used by decision-makers and mobility practitioners to modernize paratransit. We explored the manifold benefits, but also potential challenges in their implementation from the perspective of key actors, including the private and paratransit sectors.  

Digital technologies are proving very useful tools to modernise a sector otherwise commonly known for its unyielding nature. The mapping of operators and routes, and the global expansion of ride-sharing platforms are two of the most prominent technologies being employed by both private and public actors to transform paratransit. But there are more technologies and applications waiting to be discovered, scaled, and replicated to support paratransit reduce its notorious externalities and potentiate its great benefits.
